What recommendations do people have for travel insurance deals and companies/ websites and what kind of insurance should families get for UK, European, or Worldwide holidays? How much does it cost? What about vehicle breakdown cover?

hi everyone! i love this forum!
if you're going to europe, localish, eg france, spain, and you're not doing anything too risky, then you probably dont even need hols insurance as such, just get the e111 cards for all family members so that you can get medical treatment if you need to, and if you are travelling by car make sure you have breakdown cover [i think aa european cover is the cheapest] - unless you have expensive items like expensive cameras or the like - then it might be worthwhile
best not to get it through your travel agent though, book online for the best deal

We had travel insurance through the AA [theaa.com] and had a cancellation - they were very eficient and we got re-imbursed without haggling - recommended!
